Dec. 20th, 2009 @ 09:26 pm Looking to hire an artist.
I need an artist to draw a picture of my buck, Darius.

It needs to be done by mid january and all that is required is a simple nude pinup shot to be printed in the upcoming Furoticon adult furry trading card game set.

We are out of time and all the backup artists we have have either disappeared, declined, or otherwise gone by the wayside. This will be a paid commission.

It is highly beneficial but not required for you to live in the United States. If you know of anyone that is good at drawing cervines and is in need for a bit of money, please point them my way.

Thank you very much.

Yeah I just got back from the travel-from-hell for work which without going into too much detail amounted to the following schedule:

5AM - Wake up
5:30AM - Get picked up by my car service to get taken to Logan airport
8AM - Fly to DC
10:30AM - Work on a 300-ft tower in 30-degree weather and it being just a little windy outside
6:30PM - Finally descend from the tower, work completed, and grab some Wendy's
7:30PM - Show up at the ground station/mission control area and begin doing more work
3AM (no I am not kidding) - FINALLY FINALLY THANK GOD WE GET TO LEAVE THE MISSION CONTROL AREA, THANK YOU BABY JESUS
4:30AM - Check into our fancy hotel on Penn Ave (the Marriott)
5AM - Sleep
9AM - Wake the hell up and prepare to do more work on another tower
12PM - Climb the tower, it is MUCH MUCH colder this time, cannot feel my feet
5PM - Got done, leave the tower, head to the airport in rush hour traffic
6:30PM - Missed our 6:30 flight, the next flight doesn't leave until NINE, and the airport restaurants aren't what I would call fantastic
9PM - Leave DC, get picked up by the car service, go back home to WORK ON CHINA DVDS auggggh
1AM - Sleep

I am sleeping like the dead tonight and will love it.

I edited a clip from my China Trip DVD I made for my family and put it up on YouTube. This seemed like the most interesting part with the fewest shots of the fam (you know, the boring parts):

I basically cut out a conversation at the end of this clip where we were talking about the grossest things we saw at the Snack Street stands. I think the contenders were the sheep's penis and dogmeat patty. Though I think since I had spent all that time filming the scorpions they definitely made an impact on my mind. I think I was silently screaming a little while holding my little Flip Mino.

Also yeah [info]mkeda had asked where I had come up with the Wiggles song "Fruit Salad" to put in the video. Well Mike, we're getting pretty old and now my friends are starting to have kids who have nothing better to do than to eat, sleep, make messes, watch TV and listen to at-first-catchy-and-then-impossible-to-block-out songs. "Fruit Salad" being one of them. I was at home with some friends watching a Bengals game one afternoon and the friend who was hosting the party was singing to herself the "Fruit Salad" song and then when we asked her about it she played it for us and by then I WAS STUCK HEARING THIS SONG. At least the lyrics are easy to remember.

I hope you guys like the video!

Dec. 18th, 2009 @ 10:46 pm My 30th is coming and FC?
Huh geez im getting old. Yeah in January during FC to be exact. I dunno I kinda wanted to do something big for myself on my 30th but due to the summer strike a lack of winter work and the way things just seem to be heading I don't know if I can pull FC off I need roomies and trustworthy ones. ones who respect privacy and personal space. I should have planned this in the summer but some life things get in my way. Mixed with the Sheer shit ton of stuff going on through the Strike I put my personal wishes on a back Burner. And until recently only toyed with ideas or forgot completely.

I feel Kind of disappointing, I thought By thirty I'd be married have this awesome job and maybe even a Kid. But I have an okay job I'm single and home bound till the last of the debts are paid. Im not un happy all the time but I'm not exactly thrilled with my life so far either. I feel somewhat depressed and one of the few times I DO feel the lack of a significant other is on my birthday.

I Kinda wanted to merge FC with my birthday. But a flight is likely absurdly expensive. And I just don't feel like holding my hands out to the furry community to help me out yanno? I see it all the time and in some ways I'm envious some people can repeatedly ask for money and bail outs and get People to PAY their way through cons. I've had serious thoughts abotu asking for donations and stuff to get me there make the trip less straining. But in other ways my own pride kicks me and says. Dont. Just don't. To use people like that don't become the very thing you've grunted disapproval of. Plus i doubt i have the E popularity or fanbase or likability to get enough to make dent anyways LOL. Cynical take no bullshit, no huge porn collection types aren't cool enough. Technically its feasible. fiscally responsible? That i am unsure of. Then I have to think. What the hell will I DO with myself at FC? Cons have a wonderful way of going so so for me Cons are great but if you really wanna spend time with someone its not always the best time since gathering friends at a con can be like herding squirrels in a park heh. I'm undecided at t ime when i should be decided. And I just don't feel like birthdays are a big deal.. Yet Once in awhile it's nice to have people fuss over you.

Oh well this whiney journal just helps me sort out the thoughts Dragging around my head.

It's about to be on Christmas Day one year since my Uncle died I think small bits of that are lingering in my head too.

Is a neat movie I don't think its everyone's cup of tea But I liked it.

I liked how the stories got linked together. How they blended different faiths and looked at the prospects of love life death and the soul. It's sort of funny how we look at trees and spiritually speaking many faiths see the value and wisdom that is possible because of one simple organism. That helped shape the planet. How we make branches and tree patterns one of the most common an easy to identify patterns. Kinda neat when you think about it. Kinda mad me think how much we need and rely on the simple tree. From the oranges in the kitchen to the wood of the house to the rubber on my cars tires. The air we breathe.. Just sometimes kinda neat to stop and think about stuff like that. V

What caught my attention was how it talks about finishing things. Looking at choices regrets and the paths we can choose to take. How the tree of life was dying until he came to accept that his life had to end to start over. I loved the symbols of the tree the dying star where death of a star meant new life. Seeds the lovely effects of the nebula
Its a very artsy sort of movie not everyone's cup of tea but i liked it . And had no idea it was Hugh Jackman in the lead role.

Dec. 15th, 2009 @ 10:38 am Video making burnout
I am so beat from making videos. I really should have not procrastinated so long and just sat down and steadily worked at it, but what did I know? But there is an end in sight and I hope to make that end tonight -- in which all of the 3-7 minute music montages that I've put together (there are 15 of them -- one for each city/giant landmark that we visited!) will somehow be sequenced into some coherent family vacation DVD. I like each sequence, so hopefully the whole will be greater than or equal to the sum of its parts.

Then comes the blehhh part -- encoding. WHICH WILL TAKE FOREVER I BET AS IT ALWAYS DOES.

Then the meh part -- burn, baby, burn! I estimate I will need 13 DVD's to give to the respective parties (my family, our family friends who came on the trip, and Jon's family) so I'm just going to go ahead and make 15 and have some spares lying around.

The packaging part is coming along nicely -- I had Jon make me a DVD cover for the cases I bought. I suggested to make them in the Cultural Revolution propaganda poster-style, and he came out with a product that exceeded my expectations. They are hilarious!!! I have to get a picture up once Christmas is over, as they are supposed to be a surprise. I just hope that my parents and my parents' friends have a good sense of humor about such things. It really is hilarious.

We still have to label the DVDs to, but we might just save time and give a straight-laced label to the DVDs instead of Jon's idea of cropping the DVD cover into a smaller version for the labels. I don't know, someone might want to show the DVD to people without having to make excuses for the creators' tasteless humor/love of irony!

I brought my laptop to the lab so I can work on the best part of the vids -- the night market/"snack street" in Beijing. Gross stuff! But I found the best song to set the music to -- "Fruit Salad" by the Wiggles.

Dec. 14th, 2009 @ 01:30 am The Sing-Off
I just got back from a taping of The Sing-Off at the WB studio in Burbank. NBC's trying to ride Glee's coattails with a new a cappella competition. Unfortunately it lasted 6 hours, but I did get to see some great a cappella groups. It was hosted by Nick Lachey. And Ben Folds is a judge! I assume he's considered an a cappella expert after his last cd (for which he had college a cappella groups send in their covers of his songs). Shawn Stockman from Boyz II Men and Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls were the other two judges. Nicole was clearly there to look pretty rather than because she has any music criticism skills. Ben and Shawn got into some interesting debates while judging though.

Dec. 12th, 2009 @ 01:51 pm US border guards arrest Prize winning author. * edit LOl birder *
For what? Simply Asking why is my Car being searched. Torrle and I Can attest to how vicious US border guards can be to you. Simply asking one guy to repeat a question had us Standing in bitter cold winds on Inter border space Between stations. As they rifle through our two bags of things we had on a failed cross border shopping. You just LOOK at border guard the wrong way and BOOM.
That is the truth, I can say that the story in the links is likely very true. Many Canadians, often Share stories to warn one another how NOT to be when you cross the border. Or simply share stories of how rude and power tripping the border guards can be. It's fear mongering really. And Yes there is Physical evidence of racial profiling and abuse but justice rarely comes to them. Why because they have nearly Omnipotent rights to destroy your property and Make your life hell. All they have to day is He assaulted me Or We thought he was carrying terrorist goods. NEVER ever question the border officials merely make clear documentation later of the treatment.
Stolen from Jamiehall because People should know NOT to sound nervous to tell the truth and ALWAYS ALWAYS Have your information IN DETAIL when your dealing with US border patrols. Anyone who does get unfair treatment by US officials file complaints with your MPP and LOCAL news Also file complaints to Canadian embassies Cross border. Eventually with enough voices Raising the issue something may eventually be done. Kinda Funny how We are supposed to be friends with one another Diplomatically speaking. Yet get treated like we are thugs if we look the wrong way. Or perhaps have Arabic descent. Fear rules.

Dec. 11th, 2009 @ 02:14 pm Music update.
Hey folks. It occurred to me that I forgot to post links for my non-FA followers, so remedying that now. I have three songs up of late, two of which are commissioned work and the latest is an expansion of my own technique.

Let It Rain:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3127733

Noteworthy in that this is my first attempt at serious multitracking, even on a small scale. There's 3 different tracks on this one, although only one is musical.

Mugsy's Liberation:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3108133

A commission to memorialize Mugsaith's beloved dog, now passed. It is also noteworthy in that this is the first song I was able to strip out and edit pieces of to more suit the commissioners vision.

The Shy Dolphin, Menokh:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3089467

My first commission! And happily so, a secret santa present intended for a dear friend of mine, Menokh. It came out well enough, and interest has been building slowly in commissions ever since.

I hope you enjoy these tracks, and have a safe and joyous holiday season as we move into 2010 where I will be performing at Further Confusion's Furry Night Live show for the first time in several years! If you are interested in having music done for your character, an image or animation, or just about anything you can think of, please let me know as the waiting slot is currently open. :)

I may consider multitracking for commissions at this point... I think I might want a little practice before I promise that to folks, though. We shall see :)

As always, thanks for listening!

Damn the storm was mostly slush there are three inches of slop to shovel which was wet heavy and gross in the cold rain. Now it's a very very powerful wind storm.

Gotta love priorities.

Back stab a friend.. Show legally questionable porn. Sleep around. Serious drinking and drug use. Ignore someones plea for help.

All a okay. Post some bad grammar. Or forget to edit something. And your the damn anti Christ. And everyone is more then happy to point out how wrong and flawed you are. As if to brag how much smarter they are then thou. very very seldomly do you ever see a polite reply asking for an edit or clarification. Sorry English as a second language folks or people with even worse Learning disabilities "Furries" ( but not limited to) say/demand you have to all be English majors. It's a diary entry not a novel set for awards by critics. I find it humorous we over look some seriously questionable things. I find it funny how people in a botanical society. made of PHD and lawyers, doctors,Taxonomists are more forgiving of mistakes and bad written skills. I've seen some very hard to read handouts. But then again when people get to meet in person more frequently they can have their perceptions changed. Open mindedness goes many ways.
Sometimes with high intelligence comes a smugness. When you or think your smarter then other people. You cant help but prejudge others based on what you think is smart. I tell you some of the smartest folks I met fix cars pave roads and work as garbage men. And it's a tragedy because that smugness actually kills the notion of new points of view and new ideas. Hold the door open for so much yet slam it in peoples faces over imperfections like this. And you could deny some wonderful things. And they don't speak up about it and pick something of a pet peeve to rage over and go up in arms for. Funny thing is I used to get sensitive about my learning disability and try to be what everyone else wants me to conform to be. I used to hide the fact I have one for fear of prejudices. Explained it a million times over what aspects of my day to day life get affected. How it is entirely possible to be highly intelligent yet have an LD. Blah blah fought for honor roll marks blah blah sucess in school blah blah..
It's on deaf ears and I'm happy with who I am. I may have depression I may be moody and I may be flawed but in the end I know I am not a bad person. Perhaps these people are somehow unhappy with themselves at times. This is who I am and what I am And I have just as much rights to be me as anyone else has a right to be themselves. Don't like it don't watch me. Don't friend me. Sure It will hurt a bit but I'm made of tougher stuff. It's like asking You to not be gay anymore.. My learning disability is as much part of me as being gay is to you.

Intolerance.. as humans man We got it down to a fine tuned well oiled machine. We have found so many ways to justify intolerance and our own prejudices. I honestly think we are far more beastly and vicious hurtful as human beings then the animals we pretend to be.

Tis the season:) love y'all

I think the line a war on hard work has been declared is So Spot on. We look down on those front line people but Stop and respect those people because without that pipe fitter without that garbage man without that electrician.. Without farmers. WE ARE ALL SCREWED. I always laugh at Hollywood and politicians take on Apocalyptic events where the smartest most pretty rich people get saved but Ideally a colony would have more Skilled trades men who KNOW how to do the work needed to BUILD a society.

I'm a union jerk yes but union socialistic stuff aside.. There is huge wisdom in Hard work. And in those people doing those dirty jobs. Show them some respect.

Warning this contains detailed talk of farm practices On animals If your a peta member Turn the hell away.
